Building on the success of previous GCF China workshops on mobile device certification, GCF, GTI and China Mobile hosted two workshops in Shenzen on 7 September, 2017
- Testing workshop for Mobile-IoT (M-IoT) Devices (morning)
- Testing workshop for LTE Devices (afternoon)
The M-IoT workshop starting at 9:00 in the morning provided an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest technologies that are being rolled out by the mobile network operators worldwide and particularly by China Mobile. The workshop covered the latest initiatives from GCF on IoT certification and had a line-up of external speakers to cover some of many facets of IoT. GCF has recently established a dedicated IoT group. Engaging in the workshop was intended to help manufacturers get the proper testing and certification for their IoT chip sets, modules or devices.
The LTE workshop started at 13:30 and covered certification of LTE handsets and other devices for the global market and gave an overview of GCF’s latest regional activities from around the world. It included speakers from leading chip set manufacturers as well as a round table discussion on how certification should develop for the open markets. Delegates were given an introduction to GCF Platform Certification, designed to significantly reduce time and cost to market for handsets.
