OTA Antenna Performance Metrics

The performance of the device’s antenna is well known to impact on overall:

  • Device performance
  • Network efficiency
  • Customer satisfaction

In areas of marginal coverage, downlink data throughput has been shown to increase significantly for each 1dB increase in received RF signal. Put simply, better antenna performance means more signal “bars” in more places and more end-users being able to make calls, access their favourite social media sites and send and receive emails without delays.

GCF has selected a number of Antenna Performance Metrics, each based on standardised testing methodologies, covering LTE, 3G/UMTS and GSM/GPRS technologies and including a range of common and relevant device usage scenarios.
