Benefits to GCF Operator Members
- A key benefit of GCF Operator Membership is the ability to input to and influence the GCF Certification programme.
- The transparency and robustness of the GCF scheme means that an operator can move the focus of its internal test plans towards its network specific requirements rather than common areas covered by GCF.
- All Operator and Associate Operator Members can enter the members' portal and the Device Certification Criteria database. These provide access to all test cases and the corresponding results for each certified device in very high detail.
- For end-to-end certification criteria, the portal provides details of the radio access and core networks used in the test environment and software clients employed in interoperability testing.
All GCF Operator Members receive GCF Email Alerts every time a terminal device is certified.
Any Operator Member can apply to become a Field Trial Qualified Operator. A unique aspect of the GCF Certification Programme, field trials provide even greater confidence in the interoperability of devices. Field trials rely on close co-operation between manufacturers and a range of Field Trial Qualified Operators who benefit hugely by gaining first-hand experience and knowledge of forthcoming products.
Operator Members pay an annual fee and enjoy additional benefits:
- Free attendance at GCF meetings
- Voting rights at GCF meetings
- The right to stand for election to the GCF Board, Chair or Vice Chair positions on the Steering Group, Agreement Groups or Ad-Hoc Groups
- The right to propose new work items or performance items
- The right to nominate Rapporteurs for work items or performance items
Membership fees are agreed annually by all Full Members in the open forum of the Steering Group.
Associate Operator Members do not pay an annual membership fee but do have to pay a daily delegate rate to attend GCF meetings.
